Junior Football Coaching - Things to Consider
The following article explains some of the things that anyone who is looking to take up junior football coaching should consider.
Preparation
In football coaching, preparation is everything, and making sure that you have all of your equipment and drills in place before you begin the training session is vital in making sure that it is a success. You should arrive at the training centre at least half an hour before you coaching session is about to begin. This will give you enough time to set out cones and get all of your practice equipment in place
Fitness and Training
Successful football training involves a combination of both ball skills and fitness regimes. Although most players will want to focus on their ball skills and practice in a game situation, it is vital that players are fully prepared, with fitness regimes which are tailored to their specific requirements. Not only will this help players to be prepared for a game situation, it will also help them to prevent serious injuries.
Dedication and Commitment
Contrary to what you may hear, top class footballers are not simply born that way. In order to achieve greatness, it is vitally important that they put in a great deal of dedication and commitment into their preparation and training. Successful football coaching involves drumming this into your players consistently. Use the examples of role models such as David Beckham to highlight the importance of training and hard work and the associated rewards that this can bring.
Football Coaching Resources
Although football coaching is a largely practical process, there are several resources you can utilise, such as books and DVDs which will help you and your players to learn more about the game.
In addition, football coaches are increasingly using visual aids such as whiteboards and online video coaching to get their tactical points across.
Sports Psychology and Nutrition
Educating players on the importance of diet is highly important in football coaching, in making sure that you have a team which maintains optimal levels if fitness. Many of the big clubs have dedicated dieticians who work with the players to make sure that they are eating correctly.
Psychology is also a major part of the game. Making sure that your players maintain a positive attitude at all times will give them the mental strength to become successful footballers.
It's not the winning; it's the taking part that counts
It may be a cliché, but remembering this will help you to coach well-rounded players who have the right attitude and play the game in a sportsmanlike manner. There's no harm in being competitive, but for younger players, football coaching should be a fun and light-hearted affair.
Now you know more about junior football coaching, what's stopping you from becoming a better coach, and helping your players be as good as they can be?

Football Coaching Courses
If you're a keen football coach or player, and want to get certified, and want to know more about the coaching methods the professionals use, then perhaps you'll be interested in professional coaching courses.
Here in the U.K, there are a number of football courses which are run by the Football Association. The following article looks at what some of the basic football courses consist of, and some of the courses which are available to those who want to get into coaching.
Research has shown that over the past few years, there has been a steady decline in the number of 11-a side teams playing football in the U.K. This has led to a shake up by the football association, with a host of new football coaching courses being made accessible, with the intention of encouraging a new generation of coaches and volunteers.
As part of this shake-up, the following basic coaching courses have been introduced:
FA Level 1 Football Coaching Courses - As the UK's most popular coaching course, this is a great introduction to coaching for those with little, or no previous experience. This is an open-entry coaching course, meaning that candidates do not need to have any previous football experience, just an interest and desire to improve and develop.
FA Level 2 Football Coaching Courses - For coaches at a slightly more advanced level, the Level 2 football coaching course helps to develop coaching skills further. Although this is also an open entry course, it is strongly recommended that candidates have at least some degree of relevant coaching experience.
These courses both offer vital first steps on the coaching ladder, with individuals given the opportunity to progress on through the various FA football coaching courses which are on offer.
Coaching Course Resources
A number of resources have been produced to support these football courses. These include handbooks, videos and computer programmes, all of which have been designed to help the candidate to get the most out of their course
What Areas do Football Coaching Courses Cover?
Typically, most football courses not only cover the development of the technical aspects of footballers, but also a host of related subjects, which are necessary for the successful running of a football team. These include areas such as team administration, child protection, fitness, nutrition, warm ups and warm downs.
Finding Work as a Football Coach
After taking a football course and becoming adequately qualified, coaches are then free to find work as a football coach. Employment can be found through the local football in the community scheme or directly with a club. Over the summer and school holidays, many find work at the many junior football coaching schemes which take place.
Now you know more about football coaching, when will you become a qualified football coach?

2010 World Cup Promotional Pens Will Get Your Business Noticed and Remembered
If you are looking for ready made promotional pens with a football theme, you will most likely be disappointed. Yes, there are a lot of gadget pens on the market that have a little plastic football at one end or a cheap looking football player near the clip whose eyes bulge when you squeeze his head but such gifts are a waste of money. Gadget pens are looked at for a couple of minutes and then put aside. As adults we can only find bulging eye balls on our writing instruments interesting for a few seconds before we are off to more important and pressing matters.
With the 2010 World Cup just a couple months away, you should be looking to use the games to your advantage while at the same time offering your customers a pen they will surely use. Here I would like to tell you about some of the possibilities you have so that your 2010 World Cup promotion will not only go down well but keep your customers thinking of you and your business long after the World Cup is over.
Mix-n-Match Pens
Some of the best manufacturers of promotional plastic pens are Lecce, Senator, Prodir and Bic. All of these manufacturers supply good quality pens that have large capacity refills so your pens write for a long time. Another service they offer is the ability to design your own pens. You can choose the colors of the barrel and time which can be matched closely to your business colors or the colors of your country's football team.
Full Color Printing Onto Pens
If you really want to make a big impact, why not choose one of the many pens that can now be printed in full color. Many have a wrap around digital print that offers you more space to print your logo, design and details. Use you own football design or ask your supplier to assist you in this area.
Metal Pens
Do you have top clients who are as football mad as you are? If so, the World Cup is the perfect time to present them with a metal gift pen to commemorate the games and to show your clients how much their custom means to you. There are a lot of good quality generic brands to choose from or you could go for one of the top brands such as Parker, Cross, Waterman or Lamy.
If you really want to get the most out of your marketing, please consider the quality of the pens you purchase. Pens that are gimmicky usually end up in the bin. Good quality plastic or metal pens can last for months or even years promoting your brand all along the way.
